We celebrate and pray a special prayer for our brothers and sisters in Africa.
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy Name
Faithful and true Saviour, we thank you for Calvary. Thank you that we can call you Father by virtue of the blood of Jesus. Yesterday, today, and forever, you are our God for all Nations. You are our Light, strength, provider, and firm foundation.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Author of life, we pray for our church leaders, for faithfulness of our people, and for an infinite harvest. Mighty God, we pray for the nation of Africa. For wisdom, compassion, and faith of doctors, caregivers and researchers who envision a world without AIDS. Speak to governments that they might intervene by easing debt and provide monetary support for community-based aid. We pray for the dying – that they would know salvation. And we pray for the living – that they would be blessed with hope.
Give us this day our daily bread
Our Father, our provider, we boldly ask that you would meet the needs of our brothers and sisters in Africa: Comfort in time of sorrow. Healing and adequate access to medical treatment for the sick. Food for the hungry. Clothing and shelter for the ill clad and homeless. Orphans with good families to raise them in love. Pervasive and permanent peace and justice.
Forgive us our debts as we forgive or debtors
Redeemer, forgive us for neglecting our brothers and sisters. Forgive our fears, anxiety and prejudices. May we live lives of faith, hope and love to touch those who are suffering. As you love us unconditionally, may we love in the same way. Inspire in the hearts of apathetic people an explicit understanding of the suffering. May compassion flood cold and indifferent hearts.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
Wise and wonderful God, we pray you fit us all with Your armour so that we may stand against the devil’s schemes. Clothe us in truth, righteousness, readiness, peace, faith, and salvation. Touch our brothers and sisters of Africa with a compelling hand of truth that devastates myths and conquers lies. You are our refuge and rock. You love us and know us each by name.
For Thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory. Forever and ever.
All powerful, we believe in your authority. We give you all the glory and praise. Hear our prayer and unite your children. We rejoice in your faithfulness and promises. How great are your works, O Lord. Praise to our Hope of Glory.
